TAKE THE MEDITATION CHALLENGE!

Is your mind full to the brim? Is the festive season ahead feeling more like the frenetic season? Why not take our Meditation Challenge?  Evidence suggests that meditation has a range of health benefits – and we want you to put them to the test. Our Meditation Tool Kit will help you with practical tips, background information about mindfulness and easy how-to guides to various meditation techniques. And, we’d love to hear your experiences as you take on the challenge!

Meditation Manuals

Meditation Diary

  • Track your progress through the six weeks of the meditation challenge with this meditation diary. Download it as a Microsoft Word document (docx) or PDF to print it out or fill in on your computer.

Guided Audio Meditations

  • Mindfulness meditation involves using your senses to help you focus your attention on the present. Why not take some time out and try it.
  • You don't need to sit in a chair to meditate. Whether you're strolling through nature or a city street, a walking meditation can bring inner stillness.
  • Focusing on the blessings in your life can be a form of meditation as it can slow down a 'goal-oriented' thinking mind.
  • Children too can benefit from learning how to switch from being busy to being calm through meditation.
  • Stillness meditation differs from some other some forms of meditation in that it aims to allow the mind to come to rest without relying on structured breathing techniques, visualisations and so on.
  • This quick meditation brings your attention to different parts of the body.
  • This tasting meditation involves bringing your full attention to how the experiencing of something tastes, smells, sounds, or feels.

Meditation Stories

  • Meditating
Last week we set ourselves, and you, a challenge -- can you meditate every day for six weeks? Many have taken up the challenge and, as we enter the second week, how are you going? Has it been difficult to start the practice or quieten those thoughts? Or perhaps it’s been relatively easy?

Here’s a challenge – can you meditate? Over the next six weeks, in the lead-up to the frenetic festive season, are you able to set aside some time each day to meditate? We're kicking off this challenge with the ABC’s Health and Wellbeing website team and we’d like you to be involved as well, if you’re up for it! Perhaps meditation is a mystery to you, but you might be curious about it and what it actually involves.
